I'll message John and get back to you but as far as I can tell the start date is up to us.

All the best.

Sounds like this weekend would be a good time to start then.

The 737 has the best chance of getting completed, so I may start on that one.

Good to hear.

I will be away from the end of next week for a week but I sometimes take some model stuff with me to do. When on hols, it is often best to get started on a kit before serious painting is required. On that basis, I might resume on the 737 this weekend and then start on the DC-4 next week and get it up to painting stage.

Mine is going to be a two pronged affair. I'm starting with the revival of a stalled project from a couple of years ago - an Airfix Boeing 737. These are some pictures I took early on in the build which, shockingly, I originally started back in 2009 -

As you can see, my plan was to blank off the windows, fill them and use decals instead. The only additional work since those pictures were taken was to apply some primer grey to the airframe.

When it comes to Boeing airliners, I much prefer to use window decals as most Boeing windows have a metal frame outline which is impossible to replicate using the kit window apertures and clear inserts.

The second project is a Minicraft Douglas DC-4 which I plan to finish in Aer Turas markings. I have a thing for classic Irish airlines.

That is starting to look sweet. I have about three of this kit. Not sure wgat to do with them all but the prototype in NASA markings is part done and I would like to do a T43 from another.
Both my DC9S are out of the loft now. I still fancy doing a 747 though.
My next post will be in the shared build forum.

All the best.

Hi chaps. I just need a bit of clarification for Shared Builds - are part started kits permitted? I bought the Roden VC10 (BOAC) earlier this year and ripped straight into it but it then stalled. I just cut the parts from the runners and glued the wings together I think, no paint has been applied yet.
Let me know what you think (fingers crossed).
Cheers

I have edited the title to reflect the start; for the curious, here is the S/B: http://www.uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=237&t=15529;

Still wish I could join in, but alas ....
