Rare and Golden oldie G/B

Re: Rare and Golden oldie G/B
I've got a Matchbox Spit XVI in the stash - that, I fear, is a bit too recent for this GB!

However, I reckon I'll have a Frog Messerschmitt 109F in the stash before too long - and we know what happened to the last one I had!

Hmm, I have one of those buried somewhere too, minus its markings. But I have done enough 109's for this year!

Re: Rare and Golden oldie G/B
I've got an ancient box scale Revell Air Power Series B-36 I could try to get together for this. Plans involve cutting the fuselage and swapping out the kit wings for ones from a 1/144 Constellation. Unfortunately, the B-36 jet engines have already been poached.

P.S. I've also got an Air Lines 1/72 Gannet that might be good fodder for this too...

Re: Rare and Golden oldie G/B
I just remembered I have an elderly looking Kiel Kraft camel in the stash. Would that count? No dramas if not but if so, I'll throw that into the mix since YCNHTMSC ;)

Re: Rare and Golden oldie G/B
The 1/72 plastic KK camel kit was released in 1958 and continued (along with their Hurricane IIc kit) until sometime around 1975, it had a spinning engine within a separate cowling- the only classic kit to have that feature. As I remember the upper surface rib details were over done by today's standards and the under surface was plain, bereft of all rib details. this is a true classic so should fit the bill. They can still be found for a very reasonable price. http://www.kingkit.co.uk/plastic-model- ... -8028.html;

Re: Rare and Golden oldie G/B
Thanks for that info, David. The wing under sides are devoid of any detail.
If it's acceptable as a golden oldie, then I'm in for this GB.

Re: Rare and Golden oldie G/B
OK folks. Now we need a date for this one. I see that there is a nice big blank space in the calendar in September. How do you folks think about this?. Is it ok for you?. It will get any builds you are considering for this done in time for Telford if you are planning to take them.
All the best.

I almost bought one of those at a show this past weekend, but didn't so your "uniqueness" is preserved

Re: Rare and Golden oldie G/B
September is fine, at least now
The pre-1980 is easy. The rare & unique is a bit harder, there's old stuff out there, seems like a dime a dozen.
I am pretty well set on a pre-1980 FROG Spin-A-Prop with Skybase stand - that ought to touch all the bases, so I just need to decide which one of them tweaks the most collector's noses.
Or something like that.
