617 Sqn / Opn Chastise 75th *** Part of RAF 100th ***

Post by DavidWomby »

I just watched The DamBusters (again for the nth time). Next May will be the 75th anniversary. I know it's a bit of a limited range of choices but we could consider a 617 Squadron GB. IIRC over the years they flew

Lancasters (Camo/Black: Upkeep, Tallboy, Grand Slam. White/Black)
Mosquito
Mustang
Lincolns
Canberras
Vulcans (B1 and B2. White and-flash and camo schemes)
Tornados (Camo and grey schemes)
F-35 (should be in service by January)

Not many types, I know, but if you consider the variety of armaments and colour schemes, maybe we'd get enough for a GB. Something to think about nearer the time.

I know we have the RAF Centenary GB but I would still like to do one for the Operation Chastise 75th. Who is still up for this, please?

Thanks. That's 4 of us so far. We need, I think, 2 more for a GB. Then we can see about getting on the calendar but I am thinking we'll want the month of May next year, right?

I have a couple of Hasegawa Lancasters (one with Tall Boy and the other with a Grand Slam). I'm up for a twofer.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!
