Night Fighters GB. Have we had one?

Post by DH-Drover »

I have two night fighter kits waiting to go. A P61 1/48 and a Merlin Beaufighter 1/72.

I would be happy to moderate. Mad impetuous fool that I am

Not sure if there has been one, but would be up for one if it goes ahead
Best wishes

Me too. I have a Beaufighter underway that is going to be a Night-Fighter version. Also have a Mossie that I can do as an NF.II. I've been reading 'Night-Fighter' by Richard Wright and CF Rawnsley, the latter being an AI operator on Beau's and Mossie's with a certain John Cunningham. Would definitely be up for this as I've also Peter Spoden's BF110 night fighter to do/convert. (After reading his book 'Enemy in the Dark', his own wartime experiences).
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Great idea. My Camel GB effort this last month was the Comic night fighter. I'd still be very tempted by this with a Sopwith Comic Strutter or perhaps another Comic Camel or I could use the new tool Airfix BE2c in my stash to build the night fighter Zeppelin interceptor. When are you thinking about doing this? That would ultimately be the decider for me.
Must.....build....ALL the Sopwith Camels!...

Any time is fine with me. I would prefer our summer as it is too hot to go outside around here (Grenfell NSW). Air Conditioning makes working inside a must!

Not as yet because it needs more people onboard. If it goes ahead after November I would be up for it.

All the best.

There was one a couple of years ago but it proved too difficult to judge being so dark and not seeing the models................

Would Night Intruders count? or is it specifically fighters modified for night operations?
I was thinking of James McLachlan, the one armed ace and his dark mustang, used for catching returning bombers.

Warming this one up again
I'd like this one to be a goer

A head count has 9 names interested;
DH-Drover
iggie
MarkyM607
VickersVandal
Gregers
celt
dwomby
fredk
Purplethistle

We'd need confirmation of who is still interested then sort out a date
