Krap Kits GB!!! *** Complete and Archived ***

Post by DazDaMan »

I had this idea earlier while faffing about with yet another Spitfire.

Why not have a GB where we all build the most rubbish kits in our stashes??

I have two Starfix kits hiding in the loft, so they are more than qualified to join in!

I built these two from the same company a couple of years ago, and they turned out OK with a bit of TLC....

Mach 2 springs to mind..... Mind you the one I have is started so the Starfix route seems good.

I'd like to nominate PM and KP models as well. MPM and Special Hobby could also be contenders here as well as some of the early Hawk/Testors kits.

There are models from most manufacturers that would fit the bill here. Even Airfix and Revell have their odd shall we say less than stellar models. All children of their time of course but still contenders. I may be up for this.

All the best.

You know Lindberg kits?!
They would fit in here, too.
I remember I once built one of their Fw190, I was about 14 years old, I really didn´t care so much about the looks of a kit,
but even back then, I found it didn´t look the part.
I still remember the horrible wing-to-fuselage-join, to make it look ok, I would´ve needed a ton of filler!
....back then I didn´t use filler yet, so it really came out looking god-awful

Wonder if Lindberg ever did a kit that doesn´t look toy-like?
(...now slowly coming back to my real Crashpilot-character......: ----> )
:-D ....but please don´t misunderstand me, folks!
I´m very interested in joining a Krap GB, if I only had the time, next to my s.o.d-builds!
have a PM Mirage (that I´m tryin to turn into a IAI Dagger  ) hanging out on the s.o.d.,
....but it´s already buried under a ton of filler, so it can´t take part in here (cause it´s "almost" finished)

...before I go to sleep I just want to say how much I like this forum, makes me feel "being at home"!
So many great GB/SB proposals, so much fun here, cannot find this on a german speaking forum.
(Though at odd times I post in a German language forum as well.)
Thanks, y´all!

Nice choice, Iggie. I have that kit, or at least most of it. Missing so many parts that it is merely taking up room in the deep stash. A rubbish kit of a rubbish aircraft, good for Mistelling and not much else! And I actually like PM kits!
