Worlds Apart GB

From a comment made by Lone Modeller in Sir T's work bench window thread, how about a GB involving both old and new tooling of the same aircraft (or anything to be honest)?
Stuart is currently building the new Airfix Me262 which of course has a far earlier tooling preceding it; entrants to the GB can either elect to build both old and new or team up with another builder to build one each according to stash content or other reasons.....
Im thinking that this ought to be restricted to old and new tooling from the same manufacturer but could be persuaded otherwise if that would restrict choice too much.
Is be in with the Airfix Lancaster G George (old tool) and the recent new tool version.
Timescale for the GB would need to be six to eight weeks.....

Thoughts?

Would we be allowed to modify the old tool kit? Or would it be better to build it completely OOB (new new decals if needed) to show the changes?

Either way it's a great idea - I'd be up for that.

OOB builds only I think for both old and new tools; it's the difference between the respective tooling that's important and not how much AM can be added. Decals could be replaced though

How about allowing a variation ? Old-tool kit + old-school conversion => new-tool kit.
I think specifically of the old-tool Airfix Lanc + Alan Hall conversion article => a Lanc B.2, which is of course the Airfix new-tool.

Brings to mind one of the modeler's laments "As soon as I finish scratching/converting this, they'll come out with a kit of it". Note that I have saved our word filter the effort of cleaning that lament up :)

Old-school, no aftermarket.

I've just been mulling over doing something like this with the Airfix Harrier Gr.3. I have the old and new tool kits so would be up for this depending on dates.
