P.S. I've been trying to rekindle my modelling mojo by doing something other than the normal planes and tanks and ships that I usually do. I tried painting an GW Terminator Marine, turned out okay, haven't completely lost my figure painting skills!.
I'd be interested in this, just have to find something appropriate.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

If so, would you allow a 'started' one, where I have put on an undercoat/primer but done nothing else to it ? Odd thing I was thinking about digging (literally) that project out of my stash today.
That would certainly qualify, on both counts.
Thank you, I have a couple other options to consider when we sort this one out.

I have to say I'm not too keen on that. By all accounts a marvellous kit, and certainly a figure, but it does kind of defeat the exploration of new techniques part, since the stormtroopers are designed to have nothing human or even organic visible. Externally, they're artificial and mechanical, like a vehicle.
No worries Rob; I'll have a ponder and see what I can find..... 8-)

The idea appears to be collecting a nice crowd in little time. I think we have a live one :-D

That brings us to a pair of boring practical questions:

1 - Will the usual 1 month be sufficient, or does anyone feel we should ask for an extension for unfamiliarity with the genre

2 - When do we do this?

I'd like to collect a shortlist for possible start dates before I try my hand at putting up a poll.

Speaking for myself, I could probably squeeze in a figure build within a month and at any time, but May next year (since that's when I tend to take a chunk of time off) would be perfect for me.

What are your preferences, gentlemen?

May works for me.

All the best.

We usually aren't crowded for GB which is good as we can allow them to run longer for completion rate. 6 weeks ?

There are two wingy-thingy GB running in May -- RAF 100th & Op'n Chastise 617 Sqn -- see the Calendar. The RAF 100th is 3 months so if figures were 6 weeks, there's plenty of time for people to juggle both. One of the benefits of longer GBs.

Speaking for myself, without going into gory details since SWMBO & I appear to have competing plans for late April-early May, I'll sort things out ....

Well, that's just typically me again, my "shoot from the hip" initial suggestion of May bullseyes the one period that was already starting to get busy. Maybe not such a great idea then.

(Minor) problem is, the rest is all the same to me, so unless you're all happy with me putting up some random months for a poll, I'm wide open to suggestions for other dates.

I'll leave this to simmer for a few days, and put up a poll on friday, with what suggestions I've heard by then, padded out if necessary with some randoms.

Why wait 7 months?

Hmmm...you are correct, and if you put it that way, it does sound like a long time. In my mind it was just "good time for building, early in the year". Just my wierd mind I suppose..

Anyway, this just adds to my feeling May wasn't a good idea. Alternative suggestions will be much appreciated, anything from the first of November forward would work for me ;-)

How does a collective New Year's resolution to work on our figure from 1-1-2018 sound? It has the additional benefit of being traditional, and is amusingly ambiguous.
Abuse of the ambiguity to skip sessions at the gymn are not my fault, obviously

Why wait indeed, there have been a few GBs that I have signed up for and lost enthusiasm for by the time they finally roll around several months later. Early Jan works for me.

Yep, that should be fine (Jan 1 start that is); I just need to find a suitable victim subject
