I admittedly am not very knowledgable about ship models but st a guess ships of the size of carriers and battleships would fit the bill. Am certainly open for discussion though.

all the best.

That I did. I am guessing that most carrier and battleship models would fit that size criteria. I am open to be corrected though.

Afair the Airfix HMS Belfast is about 30cm but the likes of HMS Hood are 45cm [about 18 inches]
I would maybe join if the criteria of 'bigger than a Lancaster' were not invoked. That leaves out the likes of the Stirling and Sunderland, both very big aeroplanes but with wingspan less than a Lancaster

I suppose if you go by just wingspan then it may rule them out but I am flexible with this. The Stirling is taller than the Lanc and iirc longer. Volumetrically both it and the Sunderland win hands down so I would of course allow them. I used the Lanc as a guide only. Ships I am more than willing to take advice on as they are far from a specialty of mine though I do have s few to build.
Personally I would love to see a Stirling built on here.

If the 'bigger than a Lanc' is a guide then I'm in with maybe a Short Stirling [Airfix] - I need to check all the bits are still in the box. Or something else big
But not until waaaaay into next year; I'm over booked early in the year as it is

So long as you have one that's bigger than 12 inches ;-)

So is the B50 I have too. They are two of the models I am considering if this gb goes ahead. Iggie. I dare ya. LoL I am also considering one of my big Boeings but not sure what yet. Maybe a KC135. or my NASA 747 IN 1/144.

Ok folks. When would be a good time to start this. We have enough takers to be good to go.

I am still puzzled by what the criteria/focus/reason for this GB is because it is possible to build a large aircraft, B747-400 for example, in 1/144 that is larger than the Lancaster standard given for large in 1/72. And the Lancaster isn't really large in 1/72 compared to others, B-29 for example, so the bar isn't really set very high.

The reason, it sort of sprung to mind watching the large scale gb. generally the biggest 1/72 aircraft kits seen on here are WW11 heavies. Using 'Larger than the Lanc' as a guide the only ones from that era I can think of are the Stirling (By height / volume, not span) and things like the PE8 and B29. Not often seen on here and leading to aircraft like the Lincoln and Shackleton. . The real focus for me would be models like the B52, TU95, KC135 etc. Vehicles, ships etc I leave open to debate as I am not that well clued up on them.

All the best.
