1/32 Automotive GB.

Post by Stuart »

Would anyone be up for an Airfix 1/32 Automotive GB at some point this year?

Any 1/32 scale Airfix Automotive kit allowed?

Cheers

Stuart

edit: Changed to all 1/32 kits! ;-)

Sorry but not me. I built the Mini and the Zodiac a few years ago as gifts for my parents as they had those when I was a child. I swore not to do that to myself again. Very stressful

PS mind you, if I could find a Mk1 Cortina cheap I might be tempted - my first car.

I'd like to see if we could open that up to "any" of the old 1/32 kits -- I have Airfix, Matchbox, Gowland/Revell, Europe Models, others, but most interesting to me right now are the Pyro Vintage Brass series clamoring for attention.

If it'd open it up to more interest, then I'd be happy with that (tbh I guess we could just have an Automotive GB open to all).

The problem with this is that so few of them are available. The kits I would most like to build cannot be found anywhere at reasonable cost, take the Ford Capri for example the tools were butchered to make a custom car and it will never appear ever again, I have just spotted a 1971 bagged Bond Bug at KIngkit- with a £100 price tag and the tool does seem to exist so this could be produced if Airfix could be bothered.

Could we at least restrict it to 1/32?

I'd be happy to keep it 1/32, as I think it's a scale largely overlooked in the automotive world - which is halfway in keeping with my idea.

I can see where you are coming from David, but it does depend on your point of view - I've seen some insane prices on the old kits and if you want to build something out of the ordinary then that'll be a problem I agree. However for someone who's not built any of them (like me) then it should be easy to pick up something at a reasonable price. Airfix redboxed quite a few recently.

It's a shame they killed the Capri tooling though - I'd have loved one of those.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Mine sit in that 1895 - 1935 window, not the kit dates, but the cars.
