Choosing a Single Kit GB -- Part 2 with Poll ....
Here we go with Part 2 of the selection of the next Single Kit GB.
All are 1/72 scale.
I ran the previous thread and (hopefully) counted those with more than one "vote". That exceeded the poll limit of 10 and I dropped the Matchbox Stranraer (too big for a month) & Airfix Bristol Bulldog (we'll go with the Matchbox Fury, I flipped a coin).
In the poll, you can select three (3) items -- we'll sort it out from there. I also set it up to allow you to change your vote, we'll see how that works. Poll runs to Sunday, 29 May.
As always, after your "vote", provide a post with your selections and any comments.

Thanks, John - I didn't know we could do polls like this.
Hudson, Hampden and Anson for me - all good, solid CBKs, and relevant to the CC Sig as well.

Anson or Hudson for me. Though the thought of building either in a month kinda makes me shiver a little.

Arado 196, Hampden and SA Bulldog for me.
The Arado 196 is a lovely classic Airfix kit, the Hampden can be made as a CC variant and recently re-released and the SA Bulldog is a little gem and can easily be built in a short time.

Auster, Hampden and Bulldog.
I'd build them all, bar the M'box Fury, ('cos I've got one built and don't want to have to buy a kit).
I made my choices based upon what I thought a GB approach might offer, in terms of problem-solving and references.

Bruce

Hampden, Hudson, Anson...
Hampden - My grandad flew in them , and it was the first kit I ever had as a kid of about 7 - My dad was gonna help me with it on Boxing Day, but I got up early and started it myself - tail wouldn't stay on, and at that age I thought more glue = more sticky - ended up melting end of the fuselage into a gooey blob.
Hudson - Never built one - during my teens was tempted many times but always changed my mind - have seen it several times since I got back into this last autumn, and still never got round to buying one.
Anson - I just like 'em, and not built one for a long, long, time.

Re: Choosing a Single Kit GB -- Part 2 with Poll ....
I haven't voted for any of them, because none of them are in my stash and I don't know if I would be able to participate in the GB (depends on timing etc.). However if I did decide to participate and thus needed to go out and buy one of these kits, my choices would be (in order) the Lightning (assuming that's the 1/72 kit we're talking about?), the Arado and the Hampden.

Re: Choosing a Single Kit GB -- Part 2 with Poll ....
I have to admit sometimes I look at the selections for these single kit builds and think to my self "What the heck." "I've never heard of any of these kits" or Why can't they suggest a Mustang or anything popular." Then after I think it over and I realize if I never came here I would most likely never have heard of or had the opportunity to build one of these kits.
I don't know if a date has been set yet for this build but as you may have well guessed from my opening remarks I have none of the kits mentioned. I would need to track one down and buy before committing to anything. That said I voted in no specific order The Hampton, The Avro Anson and The Auster Antarctica/AOP Mk.6.
So if the planets are in the right alignment and there is time to track down the required kit I would be interested. If not I'll more then enjoy the show from the sidelines.

Re: Choosing a Single Kit GB -- Part 2 with Poll ....
It's all quite exciting really (maybe I need to get out more?) as I want the Hampden to win (even though I would probably be happy with any of them except the Fury as I don't know that I could find one - haven't seen one in any wrapping for ages) and it is slowly edging ahead...

They did and it's readily available and it's a lovely kit. I just don't want to acquire more.Brews wrote:Revell reissued the Fury in the last couple of years IIRC.

Hampden and Anson are available on E-bay. The new boxing Hampden is also available from Squadron. The Auster is hard to find.Dirkpitt289 wrote:....
