Bearcat to Tomcat -- the Vietnam GB
On the old forum, this idea bubbled around for several months until it got enough people and made it onto the calendar, to run June-July.
Following on from the huge success of the Korean War GB last year, does anyone fancy a Group Build of the next big war along, the Vietnam Conflicts 1946-1975? Pretty much as the Korean War one was, involving any subject, air, land or sea, that operated over Vietnam during the 1st or 2nd Indochina Wars. This gives a vast range of possibilities, and just think of the soundtrack as well!
I note that several of the people who championed this, including the proposer, are not currently active and there have been no questions, expressions of interest, etc, since we moved. My assumption is that it has lost favor, but rather than arbitrarily delete it, I have a small poll, 3 days only, to see if there is any interest.
Do not answer YES unless you are committing to this build in the given time frame. YES without a confirming post, does not count.
Actually, you can see I don't care about NO responses (but have to have two options in a poll).
I also need to have a committed GB Leader for it.
Thanks ...

I'm munching on Rhubarb but I think I will commit to this build maybe with a resin kit of a very obscure flying machine.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

I have an USAF A-7 and an Chinook gunship, either of which I would love to build within a GB context

I'm in 4 builds already this year, but I do have an f-4 and a skyraider that are beging to be built.
I'm so-so about comitting to this one just now.

Yes, and having now started my OV-1 Mohawk I need to find another victim.
Would ya like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try?

Re: Bearcat to Tomcat -- the Vietnam GB
I am already to go with this one and am happy to lead the GB if no one else fancies it. I am planning to build an Esci F-5 "Scoshi" Tiger, probably South Vietnamese & a Huey gunship. If time permits I may even slip in a little French number.
Lots of potential for Brown water Navy, AFV's, Gun trucks, figures etc. Heck we could even get some Ozzies in on the game or even New Zealand SAS!

Have a couple 72nd scale armor pieces I could do for this or bring out my Skyraider or AC-47.
Would love to do some 72nd Brown Water Navy items but everything I have seen is out of my $$ range.

Not sure what I would do yet but would be open to the GB in the June-July period or another time.

Re: Bearcat to Tomcat -- the Vietnam GB
I am somewhat interested in the subject, but can't commit to that timeframe.
Re: Bearcat to Tomcat -- the Vietnam GB
I'll go Yes and commit to whenever...provided it's soon, 'cos I've a hankering to do an Airfix O-2A, as a follow-up to my Bird Dog. I'll be building this regardless, but in support of the GB concept...

Bruce

OK, we have the requisite number of applicants and a few wavering in the wings.
We have a GBL, Old_Tonto -- PM incoming..
I do not know why this was originally scheduled for two months but we'll stick with the 1 June start and two month duration and understand that some folks may be scrambling to get started in the first week.
I will get this set up this weekend.

Well done for resurecting this one John. I know I missed the poll, but my Cobra has been getting quite restless sat on the shelf waiting for this one to start.

I've been involved in this drunk party. "My stash just grown" (©) but, I don't finish with choice.
Corsair, Intruder (EA-6A as well), Phantom, Skyraider maybe some French planes ...
P.S. Where Finnski?

Re: Bearcat to Tomcat -- the Vietnam GB
OK, I have established a sub-forum for the Vietnam GB with 4 standard stickied posts.
You can start migrating over there, formally signing up, chatting, asking reference questions, etc.
Go ahead and start your own build threads -- our standard is to lead off with your name or username and some indication as to what subject you are building. Someimtes these are humorous, it's OK.
But, don't start building until 1 June when your GB Leader fires the digital starting gun ....
I'll lock this thread on 1 June and it'll become part of the GB record when it finishes.
Have fun !!!!
