Barbarossa
It occurs to me that there has been no real proposal for armor builders thus far, so I'll make one here, this would start on June 22 and last till the end of August if there is interest.
Barbarossa was the german code name for the invasion of the Soviet Union which started on June 22nd 1941.
Any vehicle from the USSR or Germany used in the attack would count, and since I would like everyone to have a hand in teh pie, every plane also (I would build a TANK for this though!)
Anyone interested?

Re: Barbarossa
That's a great idea and unlike most of us who have been making suggestions it pulls in the armor guys.

Re: Barbarossa
I like building armor also, haven't had a reason to buy a tank kit in awhile though.

Re: Barbarossa
My last and subsequently first armor build since I was a kit was a Ferdinand for a Kursk Group Build a few months back. While I haven't had the courage to weather it I enjoyed it so much I went out and bought several more armor kits.

Re: Barbarossa
Oh, I'd have to say yes to this one.
I'd like to suggest that the focus be narrowed slightly (which may have been your original intention Chris): subjects used in Barbarossa only, i.e., 1941 -- June through December if you want to be even more specific.
That still leaves a huge number of possible subjects.
In addition to the usual suspects (German and Russian), there are also Finnish, Hungarian, Romanian and Slovakian possibilities.

I like that idea bruce, so i agree, let's go with your modifaction of it.
Absolutely agree on the Axis minors and finland also, as the continuation war is a big part of it.

Come on guys, we just need one more, hate to miss such a major anniversary, 70 years!
Surely one of you has a BF-109F or I-16 Rata you never got around to making, or a soviet or german tank!

Re: Barbarossa
I'm down for this. I think I've put my name forward for about three group builds now, but I like a challenge! I would like to build a tank model at some point in the near future, so this would be a good reason to do so.
Will write history dissertations for modelling supplies...

Re: Barbarossa
I'm surprised we don't have a bigger turn out for these larger than life historical events. Not a good thing or a bad thing. Just surprised.

Re: Barbarossa
You forgot the T-34, which can, in its 76mm version, be made to look like a 1941 vehicle -- with a bit of work. Mind you, to make the Airfix T-34 look like anything historical takes a bit of work ....

Re: Barbarossa
You do some amazing things with your armor so I have no doubt you could pull it off if this was to happen.BWP wrote:You forgot the T-34, which can, in its 76mm version, be made to look like a 1941 vehicle -- with a bit of work.
