The new-tool 1/48 Airfix Spitfire Extravaganza
Airfix have just released two new tool 1/48 Spitfire Kits.
The Spitfire XII and Seafire XVII. The Seafire comes with a spare set of folded wings. This means cross kitting the two kits to get a Seafire XV is possible.
How about a GB where can build either of the new tools or do the cross kitting?
I haven't put a poll on this one, to allow for some discussion on the scope of the GB.
Edit: poll now set
Cheers
Andrew

I don't usually build 1/48th either Dirk. But I'm prepared to make an exception having seen Flakmonkey's build of the Mk XII.Dirkpitt289 wrote:That was a 1/48 scale kit???? Awh ** EXPLETIVE**

I can't allow myself to break the 1/48 rule. Must maintain the 1/72 and 1/144 scale only builds. Once I make the exception once it will be easier the next time something comes along. Next thing you know my stash will double with all those cool looking 1/48 kits that are out there. Nah my best bet would be to do some kind of conversion of a 1/72 kit.

I could be persuaded to join in. What are you thinking of for the timing of this? Things are looking pretty full this year now so would this be after Christmas?
Bear in mind that to kitbash a Seafire XV you're going to need to find another radiator assembly to go under the port wing. Not too difficult to scratch build one or if you have the facility to resin cast one using a Seafire XVII radiator as a master, all the better.

I'd be interested in this one. The later in the year or even after Christmas as Flakmonkey mentioned the better for me though.

I was thinking next year sometime, as supplies of the kits have to wend their weary way across the Pond, which is sometimes slow.
(I haven't seen the new tool Mk I in 1/72 in the shop yet!).

Just a thought, but as the Seafire FR.46/ 47 is to be re-released why not have an old vs. new GB?

This would be a good one. Still trying to locate a MkXII
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

It's being quoted as 4Q2011, I don't have an exact date for it at the moment but I know a man who may have. Not that the release dates mean much going by recent performance. The Lynxes have been put back to mid October from the original May so who knows.AndrewR wrote:That's a thought. When is the re-release date?
