Once I make the exception once it will be easier the next time something comes along. Next thing you know my stash will double with all those cool looking 1/48 kits that are out there. Nah my best bet would be to do some kind of conversion of a 1/72 kit.

Thats how I'm slowly pulling myself into the larger scale. I built 1/48 as a kid, and then switched to 1/72 around the 7th grade. Then about six years ago I got a Tamiya corsair. Each year since then I began buying more and more kits in 1/48. This year's purchases have been about 40% 1/48. So yep, tread carefully :)

BTW, I'm totally down for a quarter-scale Airfix spit build.

There are probably enough takers to put a poll up, but before I do, do you want to restrict it to the original idea, or open it up to older tool Airfix 1/48 Spitfires.
Discuss... :)

Why not open it up?
Call it "The Airfix 1:48 Spitfire GB" encompassing all kits/marks manufactured by Airfix in 1:48.
Gives people a bit more scope too.

Given that Airfix have done some pretty good 1/48 Spitfires over the last thirty odd years that would work nicely. Betcha nobody attempts the club edition Mk. XVI :ha:

The poll is set for 7 days.
Please make a post when you vote, with your choice for starting dates. I suggest January, February or March 2012

Cheers

I think any of the Airfix spits is good. Although by January 2012 my fickle interests may be entirely elsewhere.

Just saying

Naturally, I'll build any Airfix Spitfire:)

The early 2012 date was only a suggestion, but the calender is getting a bit more crowded towards the end of 2011. Feel free to suggest an alternative.

I am in with the later but voted for the former as I may not get one by then.

That was my thought too Jeff. I can easily get an older kit, but the new tool stuff is taking an age to arrive in Canada. The reboxed Comet racer has just appeared in the LHS!

Too true.

I voted for any, as any will make a nice model.

Do you want to include the mark VIII kit, as that was a rebox? My feeling is "yes".
