Beechcraft Kansan AT-11

Post by splash »

Manufacture PM Models Istanbul Turkey
Scale 1/72
Number of parts 43
Price in the UK £3.99 (2011)
Number of build options 2
US Army Corps 1942
Turkish Air Force 1970

This is an unusual a/c and is worth checking out the internet for images, it was used as a Gunnery and Bomber trainer, some had a single .30in dorsal turret (not included in the kit but quite easy to scratch build) and they could carry ten 100lb practice bombs internally .

First Impressions
The box containing 3 light grey plastic sprues and 1 clear sprue. The molding of the parts look crisp with engraved lines similar to the panel lines on the new Airfix 1/72 Hurricane / Spitfires slightly deep and to wide but not to overly done , I could see some flash but only on the smaller parts.

The instructions consist of an A4 sheet with the normal exploded view diagrams. The instructions look straight forward and should be reasonable to follow by anyone who as a few kits under their belt.

Decals
A small sheet with two sets of markings, they look thick and from past experience with PM models might put up a struggle.

Interior
A simple cockpit with bulkhead behind the two pilots seats with and entrance to the rear cabin which is empty.

First impressions is that this is a value for money kit, that should look good when built and at £3.99 you can go far wrong.

PM also do a model of the Beech Expeditor C-45 which is very similar having a different fuselage with square windows and a solid nose cone again with two sets of markings for a Royal Air Force & and US Navy a/c.
