Dora Wings 1/72 Percival Proctor/Vega Gull Dual Combo
The Percival Vega Gull was a very pretty pre-War 4-seat touring aircraft. During the War, many were impressed into RAF service, and the type was also developed into the Proctor comms aircraft, including the very similar Proctor III.
Dora Wings released a number of Vega Gull and Proctor kits in 1/72 and in 1/48 back in 2019 and 2020, in both civil and military boxings. This boxing pairs two of those kits, in this case the military versions of the Vega Gull and Proctor III. Opening th ebox one finds two separately bagged kits, complete with their own instruction booklets:
Opening the bags shows that each contains identical plastic parts on three sprues, a small PE fret, a film instrument panel, and different decal sheets and canopy masking sets for each. Each kit has 4 different decal options, including both RAF and foreign markings.
As I mentioned, the parts sprues are identical for each kit, and the differences are confined to the rudder, engine area and propeller, as well as the canopy. Detail is very fine, with restrained surface detail and no signs of moulding issues. These are simple aircraft and the kits should be commensurately simple to assemble.
This is the instruction sheet and decals from the Vega Gull boxing:
and the Proctor III
The decals look to be nice and glossy, well printed and in register. The RAF options are mostly very plain, and I'm researching whether I can add any codes or badges to liven up the liveries.
At $35, this represents very good value for a pair of very modern kits. They should be nice builds, and I'm looking for a good excuse to build them.....

Thanks for taking the time to do the review Paul
They look like very neat little kits, and with (other than the rather plain RAF schemes) some eye-catching schemes. My friend is now very interested

Thanks for taking the time to do that Paul - I've always liked inter-war light aircraft and those look like some very nice kits indeed.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...

They do look very nice indeed - Dora Wings produce some very nice stuff. I may need to get one of the 1/48 ones.

Thanks for the review. I had so far resisted buying one (for a Biggles Air Police build of course ) because I already have a FROG kit in the stash, but I may crack and get one anyway....

Great review Paul. These kits seem to be great value for money.
I have the Vega Gull on the way to me now, my first attempt at a Dora Wings kit.
