Iconic Luftwaffe tri-motor transport aircraft kit, 'Tante Ju' - standard early WWII variant. Kit has corrugated texture exterior finish, raised panel lines, basic cockpit seated pilot and copilot, aft dorsal gunner's station with figure, separately molded elevators and flaps, plus your choice of wheeled or float undercarriage. Decals and color painting guide for 2 German 'Iron Annies': 'G6+HJ' of Staff Flight 1./Lufttransportgruppe (See) 1, Aegean Sea, 1943 and '4V+JR' of Kampfgruppe zur Besonderen Verwendung 106, Crete, 1941.

The Battle of Crete began on the morning of 20th May 1941, when Nazi Germany launched an airborne invasion using Ju-52s under the code-name Operation Mercury; the first such invasion. Greek and Allied forces, along with Cretan civilians, defended the island. The floatplane version served in the Mediterranean and Norwegian campaigns.

I found a template for a paint masking of the camo online:

I printed off a scaled version off at a print shop on a rather large pieces of paper!

Good luck with this one. Great opening sequence to that movie. Pretty good movie on the whole too!

Well done for a great review.

This is a very old kit, I recall building one as a young lad and that wasn’t yesterday :-D another aircraft in that film was a Bell 47 helicopter pretending to be an early German helicopter.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Not to mention a American Texan T-6 to be a German fighter plane stand in...

I have a 1/48 Ju52 and am thinking of doing a wed inspired diorama with it. Where did you get the decals for the plane? I've been looking everywhere for them but am coming up short.

Didn't know Mike did decals for this. I have always wanted to do the 52 in these markings because the movie is one of my favorite war movies of all time.

I have the Italeri kit set aside for this build.
