Pavla 1:72 Spitfire canopy set - What a disappointment!

Post by ucontrol2000 »

For my Spitfire PR Ia I needed a canopy with an external armored windshield and side blisters. Pavla produces a set dedicated to the Spifire that has exactly the right one, so I ordered it.
When the set arrived, what a disappointment! The hood that interests me is malformed to the point of being unusable (see posted pictures). I wrote to Pavla people three times to inform them of the inconvenience, but no one answered me. What a difference compared to the Falcon ClearVax Canopy Sets! I remember when there was one that was just less than perfect, they noticed it and put a duplicate in the package.
I don't think Pavla is the right company for me.

obviously QC was fast asleep, when they produced it...

You’d be hard pushed to recognise that as a Spitfire canopy.

Is there a QC in Pavla factory?

To be honest I'm not surprised. I've had numerous problems with Pavla, including a Mirage cockpit with no instrument panel so QC? No

I agree it's a hard piece to form, but someone can do it. Here is a canopy formed by Aeroclub:

... and this is the one provided by Falcon:

The quality control provided by Falcon is to be admired. When they notice a defect, even negligible, they insert a copy of the part in the packaging:

Why is Pavla's behavior so far from this ethic?

Hard to believe that it's a Pavla canopy. I would write to them.
So many models, so little time.

Already done, Chuck. Three times - no response.

Here is the conclusion of my misadventure. While Pavla didn't bother to answer me, just answered the "Super Hobby" sales manager I had purchased from. This is the answer:

"Dear Sir/Madam,
Apologize for mistake. We can make refund for this item and move this overpayment to next order.
Apologize for inconvenience. Best regards,
Grzegorz Jasinski"

Here, this is the behavior that anyone would like to see in their daily purchases. Thank you, Grzegorz.

I'm not a big fan of Pavla - I've yet to buy any of their resin cockpit sets that actually fit.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...

I'm not exactly an aftermarket fan, Stuart. The only company I appreciate is Falcon, of which I bought a few Clear Vax Canopy sets.
