As requested here is an in box review of the Merit 1/72 Osa I Class Missile Boat
Nice full box on opening. Typical Eastern compartments to reduce movement of parts, frames mostly individually wrapped, deck also wrapped in foam. Separate box for smaller parts.
Instruction booklet and paint plan, pretty standard
Hull and deck. Some deck fittings moulded on, in this scale I think they could have been separate for added depth but not the end of the world
Parts for the missile launch tubes
Adequate detail inside but if you want them open there are 4 ejection marks to fill on each part. Not difficult, and as you can tell not too easy to see.
Four identical frames for the SS-N-2 Styx (P-15 Termit) missiles and stanchions for the deck.
More launch tube parts.
A few more launch tube parts and the five part stand.
Two identical frames for the AK-230 twin 30mm CIWS and very nice they look too.
Mast, deck fittings, rudder and screws.
Even more deck fittings plus parts to make the MR-104 Rys (Drum Tilt) fire control radar for the AK-230 and mast fittings.
Deckhouse parts.
Now the box. Not a lot in here really but it does protect it.
Anchor chain, some wire, 3 metal prop shafts and an etched fret.
A second etched fret, glazing, and a decal sheet consisting of two flags and some generic hull numbers.
Overall a very complete looking kit. One omission is the multitude of hand and foot holds that go up the deckhouse. Strange as they provide those that go up the mast. Not a real problem as brass rod will fix that. Looking forward to starting this now.
Thanks for looking
