1/32 scale B25J Mitchell

Post by Gregers »

Well. This one is a bit different for me. My boss came back from a business trip to Hong Kong and with him he brought back some kits. One of these he wants me to build as it is one he is considering importing to the UK. This is a B25 Mitchell and it is a beauty. It is festooned with detail. And this detail is incredible. The rivet detail on the airframe is subtly done but very comprehensive and from the references I have looked at and from memory of looking around a real B25 ( Laiden Maiden, Catch22 and later as 'Gorgeous George anne' from the film 'Hanover street') it looks very convincing indeed. The interior includes tracks for the ammo to the turrets, A very fully detailed nose area (This is a glazed nose version) Highly detailed turrets, superb .50 cal guns and VERY clear glazing. The model I will be building is a test shot and as such has no instructions or decals and I am led to believe that the production version may have photo etch, not that it needs it. The bomb bay is highly detailed with even the fusing propellers on the bombs. Sprue pics will follow but here is a link to one already built. http://www.hyperscale.com/2011/galleries/b25j32jv_1.htm;
I am really looking forward to getting my hands on this monster. :-D

All the best.

Ah that 'no longer a' Wingscale kit. I found all the shenanigans rather depressing.

So not a blitzbau kit?

Like James, I found all the drama quite depressing but it is great to see that the model is finally released, that is is actually worth the wait, and that one of us has one...very keen to see your build, Greg...

Bruce. You're a top bloke. Many thanks for those. They will certainly be very useful. I will post piccies on here as and when the build starts and with luck the completed model will be at Telford this year.

All the best.

From what I read about Wingscale, you have a true rarity. Good luck with the build.

Hi Greg,

a very exciting sounding kit. Just by coincidence, I've started experimenting with uploading some of my old analogue airshow video footage to my PC and thence to Youtube just as an experiment. I don't know what model of Mitchell this one is, and the footage is pretty amateur, but it may be of some help to you.

Hi Al. Sorry about the late reply. I'm at work at the moment but I'll take a look when I'm home. Any help will be useful and watching the real deal fly certainly makes me try harder at a build.

All the best.

Greg i've an idea throw the Mitchell away and tell em' to make a 1/32nd Avro Lancaster.

The Mitchell in my eyes is aimed at the American market :???:

Hi Ian.
Yes I do believe it is. They have mentioned a 1/32 Lancaster.

All the best.
