These are a fairly new set. I got them at the LHS for CAD$ 8.99 plus tax (about 6 GBP).
The box art is similar to the WW2 RAF and Luftwaffe Sets. My RAF set did not have painting instructions, they were printed on the box in colour. The tooling for the RAF set was from ICM. This new set does not look like an ICM tool. The figures are nowhere near as crisply moulded or as well sculpted.
You do get some of the naffest line drawings of figures that I've ever seen in the painting instructions
Honestly, I think the artist has been looking at Scooby Doo cartoons or something...
"I'd have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for you durn kids..."
Sorry, Herr Revell, black and white, poor line drawings really don't hack it these days.
Here's the one and only sprue:
Front:
And back;
The mouldings are "okay", but not spectacular. If you need better figures, resin ones from PJ productions are better sculpted and better moulded, but a lot more expensive.
The seated pilots are all smaller than the standing ones - it makes me wonder whether they got two different designers to do the standing and sitting ones.
The ones I'll be putting in my helicopter builds are the ones above with what looks like their entrails hanging under their heads. It's an oxygen mask, which should be fairly easy to remove.
Summary: Cheap and cheerful. Adequate for the purpose of filling cockpits. Unlikely to set the world alight.

Neato Andrew, how do they look compared with the others size wise, by that, I mean the RAF ones look like giants compared with the luftwaffe fellas. From the sprue shots they look small...

Some of the standing pilots look about the same as their RAF counterparts, a tad oversized. The seated pilots look a bit undernourished, but not as bad as the diminutive pilots in the Airfix Spitfire PRXIX.Jagewa wrote:Neato Andrew, how do they look compared with the others size wise, by that, I mean the RAF ones look like giants compared with the luftwaffe fellas. I'll measure them up tonight. I need to start on Apache crew anyhow.
Cheers

Like other similar over 50% are of no use to me as they aren't in the cockpit.
How they look for size, the ICM RAF figures were a little too well fed for pilots on war rations and need some drastic weight loss before fitting into the cockpit.

The seated figures are on the small and skinny size James, so they'll fit into cockpits nicely.JamesPerrin wrote:Like other similar over 50% are of no use to me as they aren't in the cockpit.

It's almost worth splitting a set with someone who wants standing figures, as opposed to the sitters. Even if you don't use half of the set, the price makes it a reasonable deal compared with other AM figures.
Cheers

It looks as though you get a Jamie Lee Curtiss too. According to the box art.
So many models, so little time.

Nothing wrong with that. I've seen "True Lies".

Me too. I suppose the comment about some of the pilot figures looking flat would not apply ?

Are these moulded in polythene or polystyrene?
