Trumpeter 1/144 Ilyushin A-50 Mainstay

Hi all,

Bilby asked about having a look at the box contents on this one, the Trumpeter 1/144 Ilyushin A-50 Mainstay, so here is a peek..

Clear Sprue

Look thin and clear, though there is no flight deck detail, and I don't think you'd see any anyway.

Sample of instructions:

Decals:

One scheme choice, white over light grey.

Some details of the fuselage:
Image
The engraving looks really nice to my eye, but I've not made many new(ish) mold kits..

Image
The two streamlined shapes with the long sink marks are the wing tips.

Image
The main wheels, a few to get to sit evenly, and the rim doesn't look defined so might be fun painting evenly.

Image
Undercarraige bay insert, the main doors close off the main bays there.

Image
I like the engraving looks just right, though how they will look coverd with primer and paint..

Image
A couple of shallow sink marks, only on this one. The strip at the rear is the leading edge of the wing.

Image
Engine fronts, the lip looks too narrow and curved to me.
Image
Engine exhausts.
Image
Engine main body and pylon

Imagee
The refuel probe, has a slight mold ship line on it, and has a rough surface, so maybe easier to replace.

It's a good sized kit, and apart from the engines, it looks ok.

Mike Grant has a great build on the yuku site.. http://gregers.fr.yuku.com/topic/6740/T ... 0-Mainstay;

I'm looking forward to building it. If you could source the different engines, an Indian one would be a nice scheme...

Oh I noticed the plane is known as the "Beriev A-50 Mainstay", and if you do a web search on that name you get a lot more relevant photos..

Cheers
Jim
