Re: Airfix NEW-TOOL Lancaster "Dambusters" **PHOTO HEAVY**
Airfix have a new set of vehicles etc to go with the new Lancs. I'm wondering if Airfix intend to bring out a follow up figure set ? This would be fabulous for any of us wanting to build the Lancaster Diorama with all the extras. To be honest, the Lancaster and Bomber Support set are crying out for figures. There is an old polythene set available. I'm going to have to see if I can find this set to see what's in it. I'll also check the Revell set of figures that are very neatly done.
So many models, so little time.

The Revell set has about 25 figures, John. Mainly pilots and aircrew in various poses with a few airmen. Certainly enough to populate a Lancaster, standing or sitting.
What Airfix could do is to pose it's figures to suit the equipment in their new set bomber support set. Maybe even an airman riding on a bomb trolley.
As you can see, this is a great set, but it will be perfect with a set of figures.

We do need a better set of RAF maintenance figures I agree. Plastic Soldier Review shows the actual figures from the current sets:

The Revell set is well sculpted (ex ICM) but many of the figures are overscale, and won't fit in cockpits!
If Airfix would give us hard plastic RAF figures, they would be onto a winner.
Cheers

I have both figure sets.
I'd like to see a 40-50 piece set focused on maintaining, servicing, and arming - leave out the WAAF's, the dogs, the cyclists, the staff blokes, and just focus on ground crew with a nod toward utilization with the Re-supply Set, which I can only find on pre-order yet

modellers have been stating that for all of the Airfix figures for decades and still they give us bendy toy plastic.AndrewR wrote:The Revell set is well sculpted (ex ICM) but many of the figures are overscale, and won't fit in cockpits!

specifically, the partial catalog:

These are hard plastic, but the subjects are mostly German. Still, a mechanic in overalls looks the same everywhere..

The detail of that kit looks exquisite. I would love to have a shot at building this kit but I have no place to put it once its done. I'll just have to settle for watching to fine chaps build it.

Re: Airfix NEW-TOOL Lancaster "Dambusters" **PHOTO HEAVY**
There is a reason that there is only one pilot:
Airfix in the old days had a guy for every turret, who would sit there forever and point his little gun. Like that one holding the ring in his hands so that the machine gun can go through.
Because of the crew's horrible quality, they were discharged from duty. And now airfix left the sad sorry pilot left. We need more tiny crew figures!
Do it airfix!

Here are a few other options for crew that can be used in a diorama. These white metal figures are nice but don't mix very well with the other brands like Airfix and Revell.

Love the decal map! The rest of the crew must of used it to work out where they were going to bale out. Great looking kit though they really have done a nice job with the detailing. When do you start the build?

This would have to be the first ever "Chastise" Lancaster I've EVER seen that didn't have Gibson's G for George markings.

Thank God for that it was getting boring having the same markings all the time!
