Airfix new 1/72 Bomber re-supply set

Post by splash »

This is the set a lot of people have been waiting for and I don't think they will be disappointed at £17 its not cheap but but it is comprehensive and very well detailed.

The set contains the following vehicles:
1x Standard light utility vehicle
1x Bedford MWC/MWD (choice of rear canvas cover or bowser)
1x fuel bowser trailer
1x DB tractor tug
1x Motorcycle
1x push bike
1x maintenance tower with wheels and tow bar
2x bomb trolley type C
A collection of weapons, chocks, fuel cans, a 45 gallon oil drum, tool box and a ladder.

The attention to detail Airfix have put in the kit is spot on, just check out the toolbox and tools moulded onto the back of the fuel bowser and the Tilly's engine gearbox and drive shaft and its radiator grill and headlights.

Thanks for that Splash!

I think for a mere £17, you get an awful lot for your money?!

If my stash wasn't quite so large and my display capacity quite so small, I'd be very tempted to add this and enjoy building a diorama

Wow! Airfix has captured a lot of detail in such a small scale!

Can't wait to pick this up!

Thanks for your review. This might be the kit/set that will get me back to modeling after a long absence. Just to do one diorama.

Nice but there is always the one who fault picks it!!! Like me!

I want more...

Bicycles x 6.
New ground crew.
New Bomber Command crew - different styles/poses and not fighter related.
Two bedfords instead of one!
Two fuel bowsers instead of one
Two work towers instead of one.

Or maybe I'll just have to buy two kits, this is Airfix's plan of 'more sales'

Overall, I think this is good value as there appears to be a decent amount of plastic in that box. Detail looks great and although a lack of space here at chez W would rule out a bomber dio, I will consider buying one of these sets to build the various vehicles/trailers/bomb trolleys as stand alone items.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Nice review and pictures, Splash. I really like the molded in details like on the motorcycle, it looks like a painting and wash extravaganza and it will all pop right out.
I must aquire this set even though I have no room for diorama's or display cases at present. I think thats one of the nice things about modeling....looking forward to all of the stuff we can build later!

I have just acquired this kit (Direct from Airfix courtesy of my membership renewal discount  ), and so far have made the tower and nearly completed the Bedford MWC; the moulding detail is great, and the MWC could almost be a snap-together kit it fits that well. The intention is to make a Dio with Lancaster G George, which can be alternated after changing bomb trolleys with the 617 Lanc (also recently acquired!). Great value boxing from Airfix IMO
Best wishes

This set is so tempting to build and make another Dio'
I already have a built Lanc' showing exposed engine detail with spinners taken off so the job is half done already.

Finally, just got mine !!! It was a bit annoying to see the end opening box, but out slides a wonderful heavy duty tray to hold all the parts, so all is well.

There is a errata sheet for several steps, that it self needs an errata sheet -- but no problem they have all those infernal "Previous step" arrows mislabeled but it's impossible to go wrong ... which take me back to my "Why clutter things up" .... Love the new kits, hate the new instructions.

Anyway, I also got a B.II and noted there are no bombs and that one must then get the Re-Supply Set if bombs are desired -- guess that is why the B.II is on the Re-Supply boxart ...

Sniping aside, looks like great fun !!!

I've very happy about this kit. I've not started on it yet as I'm awaiting figures. Hopefully Airfix will be bringing a set out at some point. It really needs the figures.
