Hello from South Yorkshire!

Post by Patty »

Hello all,
I have always been a "crafter"......................I Made 12th scale miniatures from scratch for my 2, 12th scale kit houses for many years. I have also built from scratch a 16th scale tilt forge with all the machinery , gearing , water wheel , hearth and tilt hammers.
I also have a little collection of Live steam toys ..................The most unusual 12 th scale model I have made was a theatre organ console.
I am also a digital artist and paint in the old pinup glamour styles such as George Petty. I used to play the organ too.
Recently I have had to give up making miniatures because my hands are painful so I can no longer carve balsa.
I am now looking into Airfix kits and interested in kits such as machinery , traction engines, steam Rollers etc so I have joined here to find out more about what is available.
I love all kinds of music, I am married, love cooking and we have a 5 year old Yorkie Called Maxie.
Look forward to chatting with you all.

I have a hobby website showing some of the many items I have made. Please note I do not sell anything.

Kind regards,

Patty

Welcome aboard !!!
Your work, shown on your website is exquisite, I am so sorry you are unable to continue.

Airfix has a few "small" engine-type kits - a 4-stroke engine, a walking beam engine, and a steam paddle engine - all in plastic so don't envision firing them up. There are also kits by Bandai in 1/16 scale of a steam tractor - there are a couple variants, one that powers lights at a carnival (the Pendle Princess) and another with a roller. I do not believe they are in production anymore, so e-Bay or a model show is your probable source and then you'll need be concerned about parts and decals. I don't know if fire engines count but Entex did a 1/16 Dennis, double the size of the Airfix one.

EDIT: I see you found the Bandai roller build here; I had forgotten it (too ashamed I hadn't started mine after several years).

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.
