Found some old kits

Post by FintonStack »

Hi

I've shamelessly joined to get some advice on some kits I have been given.

I recently inherited some items. Among the items are 5 small brown un-marked boxes, from a little internet digging they appear to be first edition airfix kits (hawker p112, Folland Gnat, saunders-roe s-r 53, Northrop F-5A, Jet provost T.MK.3). All appear complete in bags with instructions and decals.

Are they worth anything or should I let the kids build them?

Any thoughts are help appreciated :)

Cheers
Mike

They will certainly be worth something but what that value will be I can't say. I would be inclined to talk to a specialist auctioneer before deciding if the kids can be let loose on them!
I think the main auctioneer for this kind of thing is Vectis.
Best wishes

The Saunders sr53 is very rare and worth auctioning eBay or otherwise. The rest though old are not hard to find maybe around a tenner

I would go the auction route. Though these were meant for children they are certainly of their time and so are todays children (consoles will beat kits almost every time). As mentioned the SR53 is quite valuable at around the £30-£35 mark. I saw a Jet Provost T3 go on ebay recently for over £20. Same for the P1127. The others between ten and twenty. This is assuming they are the bagged kits with paper headers? Early boxed editions may be around the same value though. Hope this helps.

All the best.

I'm sorry but you can not use the forum to promote your own eBay sales
