Hello from a modeller of bygone years.

Hi everyone, I’ve recently returned to plastic modelling after a period of over 40 years flying & designing rc model aircraft. I’ve always been a huge fan of Airfix kits with my first solo kit (no help from dad!) being the Airfix Heinkel 111. This was back in 1963 when I was a very enthusiastic 7 year old, and yes, I managed to glued the props rock solid and get finger prints on the canopy, but my interest and enthusiasm was now unstoppable with many more Airfix kits being assembled and painted with my basic experience. Anyway, fast forward to the future and earlier this year saw me needing a knee replacement so flying rc planes was not an option for a while so I thought I’d have a go a building a kit or two and try out the art of airbrushing and using modern materials. As a result I’ve now made 3 tanks and 2 cars with a U-Boat currently on the building board with a ‘stash’ of other kits slowly but surely increasing month on month.

All the best, Bill.

P.S. I class myself very much a mediocre modeller so please don’t expect works of art if I post any pictures in the future!

Welcome to the forum Bill

Some of us still get the odd fingerprint or two on builds (ask me how I know this.... ) and most of my props are glued solid from the outset to avoid disappointment later on

PS and the bit about posting pictures should read when not if :-D :-D

Thanks for the warm welcome, much appreciated. However, I’m still struggling to upload an image.
All I can manage to do is paste a link like this below using the ‘add image to post’ tab, no actual image appears. :(

Oh, it appears once the message is posted, D’oh! Ah well, you live and learn!
Anyway, these two are my first ever attempts at building a car. One is a Tamiya Porsche 911 GT1 Le Mans, and the other is an old Fujimi Targa Florio Ford GT40. I know they’re not Airfix, but I have got a couple of those to do in the future. ;-)
