Hello everyone,
been modelling on and off since i was allowed to hold a knife and am a reformed armour rivet counter. After a self imposed exile, was reintroduced to the hobby via the wargames route and had to learn to "paint for the table" rather than being as exact as possible. That took some doing. Currently trying to re hone my skills with my current obsession Russian jets. My man cave is floor to ceiling with kits of all sorts, I suspect i`m not the only one.
The other bottomless pit i enjoy throwing my money down is riding through europe on my BMW r1200rt, this is my therapy to clense me of paint and glue fumes. Thats my excuse and I`m sticking to it!

Regards to all, Roger.

Hello all my name is Howard I am a technical consultant for an Italian steelworks manufacturer (I teach mechanical maintenance, all over the world, to the customers maintenance staff) I have recently returned to modelling after a break of over 40 years. Like most I started with Airfix, usually series 1 and during birthdays and Christmas the giddy heights of series 2 & 3 and occasional luxury of a Revell as pressies.
I am a motorcycle fanatic and have a stash of 1:1 scale, as well as smaller scale models. Three roadworthy and 3 in differing stages of restoration. It was my carnal desires for the more exotic and expensive machinery that led me back to modelling and a frenzy of eBaying and the model stash, to date is as follows; 25 large scale motorcycles (unbuilt) 8 built. this led onto memories of my childhood and the purchase of military AFV's & softskins 32 unbuilt 4 in progress, Then the 1/72 boats/ships/sub's 6 on the shelf only 1 completed. Oh and I forgot my model railway unfortunately partly dismantled since the purchase of my last bike. Its western region steam /diesel transition shamefully over 100 loco's. As I only get home to the UK about 4 weeks a year the models help ease garage withdrawal symptoms. This site has been a real inspiration and I am so pleased to see all the genuine support and encouragement given freely and without criticism, also the amazing craftsmanship in the builds. Please forgive any questions which may previously have been asked & answered by others I will trawl the site for answers before I ask.
Regards to all

Welcome aboard, aitch ! I know the large scale ( and 1:1 ) motors will be of interest to a number here, so you should fit right in.

Returning to the fold after a summer long absence; see General Chat (http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=12527) for my excuses....

Looking forward to catching up (although I have been watching without contributing) with everything!
Best wishes

Jim
