Hi. I'm not new but after an enforced three week break I've restarted model making/assembling. Although the operation I had (on my pituitary gland), wasn't likely necessary due to fumes, I wanted to avoid possible fume damage to the entry wound area at the top-inside of my nose. I've restarted the Harrier GR.9 I was doing for the VSTOL SB, as well as the new Airfix Phantom FG.1 and a Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat that I bought months ago!!. I think it was the Chiltern IPMS Model show where I met Dazzled and Kitaholic. And Maverick 231 who scrounges bits of me all year round! :ha: :ha: .

Hi
Having looked at this site for several years I thought I should registrar. What I like is there are people out there that still look for models from Frog, early Revell (pity so many seem to have vanished in the ether) etc. and the final products do not have to be expensive masterpieces.

I still remember my first aircraft - Fokker triplane in plastic bag and my fist large model HMS Hood at 6/- (30p - although the last time it was released it was a sight more expensive!). As for the Churchill tank with its separate wheels it should have put me off AFVs for life. While models should be accurate I do wonder at times if the pendulum has swung too far towards modellers with deep pockets.

What type of modeler am I?
An eclectic potterer rather than a modeller who buys models that interest me. I still use a paint brush (shock horror! and generally Humbrol paint). For me the bottom line is that it is a hobby that should be enjoyed which I suspect is lost on some of the uber modellers on certain sites!

Current interests.
Space is becoming more of an issue hence I have moved away from aircraft towards towards AFVs and figures.(unfortunately, areas that Airfix are currently ignoring). I have tried Zvezda 1/100 models - OK but quickly found PSC as my interest is Allied vehicles. This means I can gets my hands on universal carriers with a wide range of options, A9, A10. Yes they are cheap and cheerful and would not win prizes but so what. My current project is painting 5 valentine tanks. It even has the 6pdr version which has not been available in 1/72.

Hi RCD, welcome aboard.
We have a small, but growing, PSC fan club here. I only did the UC's but found them quite fun.

You have been lurking, so you are familiar with the site, now it's time to join in the fun !
