Welcome to the Pleasure Dome Mike; it'll be good to see some of your builds, and to hear what you think of other's efforts too.

I was beginning to worry about the size of my stash at just north of 300; no worries now :-D

Well, first off I’d just like to say hello to everybody who already knows me and re-introduce myself to those who do not, but soon will.

I joined the original forum in May 2010 and carried on with contributions until the end of 2011.
I did not stop buildings models, just went on to Radio Control models instead.

Then the wife became ill at the beginning of 2014, so over the period of that year the Radio Control model time became less and less because of not being able go out so much.
To help take my mind of things while having to stay in so much, I re-visited this forum again mid December 2014 and started to build again. Then during January 2015 the wife started to get worse so all modelling stopped completely.
Unfortunately the wife passed away in April 2015.

I did build a few Tamiya 1/14th scale radio control trucks, one dedicated to the wife.
Then for two years have not had any interest in models what’s so ever, whether it is building or racing, nor any other hobby I have pursued.
Then in June this year I built a couple of 1/24th scale cars which helped to get the mojo back. Everything going great and was on the point of re-visiting this forum.

Then my brother passed away on the 3rd July 2017. Shit happens………
My brother was a James Bond fanatic and one of the things I inherited was an Eaglemoss Publications 1/8th scale Aston Martin DB5 totally unmade. Most of it still in it sealed bags.
So this just has to be built and dedicated to him and I could not find a better place to document it than on here.
So, I am back and hoping the mojo stays current.

Now, because of the photo bucket problem, I decided it might be better to pay for web space instead. Duly purchased the web space and a domain name. Thought I might as well make proper use of it and create a website at the same time. So the last three weeks have been spent making that website, at the moment documenting previous and current model builds. Almost done.

I know the sort of welcome you get on here and would like to say a big thank you right from the start.

Thanks

Alan…………………….

A very warm welcome back Alan. I can't begin to express my sympathies for your double tragedies in the loss of your wife and brother. I can only hope that we can offer you at least a small amount of support here within the UAMF community and I'm so glad you've come back again. The DB5 sound like it will be a most fitting tribute to your brother and I wish you all the best with the build and look forward to seeing it progress.

All the best.
Al.

Welcome back, Alan.

Surely some of those pix on your website are 1:1 scale, not models !!

Thank you people, a warm welcome back just as I expected.
The website and building of models has given me back a purpose in life.

John - The silver Kawasaki 636 is real, one of my old bikes. The bird silhouette background picture and the broken Cart Wheel are from when I use to do photography.
I am hoping in the future to add a gallery from my photography days on the website. Also pics of some off my old cars and motorbikes sometime. Otherwise everything else is a model I have built.

Thanks

Alan................

Hi, have looked in on the site from time to time and thought it time to join. Built all sorts of models in my youth, then took the obligatory break once leaving school and joining the RAF. Went back to models on and off in the intervening years until finally coming back to building models again seriously in 2009 whilst recovering from a stay in hospital. I build predominantly small scale AFVs (1/76 and 1/72), however I have built a few 1/35 and 1/32 scale ones, plus an odd one or two others including aircraft, sci-fi and the Titanic for my daughter-in-law. Looking forward to sharing some of my builds with you all in the near future, time permitting.
