G'day from Tasmania
G'day all.
My name is Troy, I'm 44 years old, married with two kids and two dogs as well the customary two moggies!
I have been modelling since I was a nipper, I would say that I'am an average modeller, no where near the excellence that I see on here, you won't see any pics as they don't compare to the experts here.
I mainly build modern armor, both NATO and PACT and WW 1 aircraft, I also re enact a RFC Captain and have all the kit.
Currently I'am building Revells 1/28 Fokker D VII, have a Roden 1/32 SE.5a in reserve. Two more kits coming from the UK, 1/32 DH2 and the Roden 1/72 Felixstowe flying boat, the last one is going to be real concern as I normally won't build 1/72 as it is too small. I have MS and am house bound so can spend alot of time building, would appreciate any help on the Felixstowe would be appreciated.
With the 100th anniversary this year, I'am planning to do a 1/32 scale diorama of a British airfield, any advice or ideas on this would be appreciated too , this is to around schools as I talk to the kids about the Great War.
Cheers
Troy

Welcome, Troy! What bit of Tassie are you at? I did a one-week tour of the island back in '88 - very cool!

Fiddle-fiddle! You'll find there are no elitist JMNs here. People appreciate the effort that has gone into a build no matter what standard it's completed to and everyone loves seeing stuff others have built. I mean, people have complimented my models , so you should have nothing to feardarkhorse wrote:

Good luck with the Felixstowe. As I said via pm, I'm more than happy to give as much advice as I can from my experience with the kit.

Re: G'day from Tasmania
Welcome aboard !! We're all here to help each other and to enjoy our hobby.
Good to have another WW1 modeler coming on board for the Centennial/Centenary/100th.
I see "vandal" has already outted himself as a Felixstowe builder; I can only claim as a starter. Don't worry about it being small, it isn't - it's just the parts that are small particularly the engine.

Hey now, look here....this is the 21st Century....there's no shame in it!jRatz wrote:

For me the Felixstowe was really just the dry run for the real descent into madness: The Roden Gotha G.V in all-over lozenge
I learned a lot building that kit though. First proper use of a wing jig, new rib shading technique, multiple control horns from a single control wire, how not to set fire to a partially built model when every fibre of your being is telling you to...... It's a very educational experience. I can recommend it to all.

Re: G'day from Tasmania
Where can I get a good jig from then? I bought the shagadelic decals from Hannants, the only problem is they had a minimum so I had to get the "Big Ed" kit for the DH 2 LOL.
I'm working on the 1/28 D VII from Revell at the moment as training for the Felixstowe, an exercise in patience and creative engineering LOL.
I will take some pics OK, fellas. With the MS I have, I only use a brush so my paintwork may on be on par with most.
I built the 1/32 Academy Camel, good kit ( with PE ) the decals let it down really badly, I knew this but my local hobby shop can't get decal solv in! So I have to get a new set of decals for it.
Cheers

PS Iam in Launceston the Northern end of Tassie!
