Hello from South Africa
Hello from South Africa
Greetings from Port Elizabeth which is in the Eastern Cape province where I teach at Grey High School.
Like many boys I grew up with Airfix models. After a quad bypass in 2012 I got through the recovery both in hospital and after by thinking about and doing repairs to my radio planes.
I found two Airfix kits sans instructions in a bag in a top cupboards so after about 32 years started the builds, making missing parts etc.
I am now totally hooked having built twenty since and a stash of 33 waiting. I brush paint only and prefer 72 scale planes. Second war and early jets mainly. I build kits from 1970's and 80's largely. Mostly Airfix but lots of Frog, Matchbox, Academy. just finished Pegasus Hispano. Have Idea kit too.
Look forward to chats.

Re: Hello from South Africa
WWII aircraft and early jets in 1/72nd are a good choice. I look forward to seeing photos of some you your builds.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Thanks for the welcome.
Just finished old Airfix Sabre Dog. Turned out quite nicely despite old decals. Now busy with Frog Zero. No wheel Wells or anything in cockpit. Have cut wells and filled with card strips and scratched a cockpit reports. Looks o.k . Want to do speckle paint job.

Don't you have it when your phone wants to take over! I meant a cockpit of sorts
