The vortices coming off the Red Arrows is the cross over makes them look even closer than usual.

Thanks Nigel. The airshow being on Sunderland sea front you can't get too close to the action due to the tide and the organisers normally keep the beach near the centre of the flight line clear for other displays. So distance I would say a few hundred yards if not more. If you know Sunderland I was on the promenade near the lighthouse.
