Spitfire and Gnat incidents at the weekend....

Post by DazDaMan »

1) Spitfire IX MK912 of the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar collection suffered a significant power loss on take-off on Saturday afternoon. Pilot Dan Griffith managed to force-land back on the airfield, resulting in slight injuries to himself, but extensive damage to the Spitfire.

2) A Folland Gnat of the Gnat Display Team crashed in front of thousands of spectators at a festival in Cheshire, killing pilot Kevin Whyman.

This was a very sad weekend as there was also the crash at Blackbushe. It just reminds us all how dangerous aviation can be.
Condolences to all affected.

And another... Hunter went in killing 7 people - not a good year.

Prayers for all the families of those effected...
