RAF/RPAF Hawker Tempest MK.II

Some photographs from my late father-in-law's service in the RAF in India, and then Pakistan (even though he stayed in the same place geographically!)

An interesting selection.
A real problem with collections like this, is that by the time "we" find them it's too late to ask about the details of the pictures.
As an example, an old lady of my acquaintance had a husband who had been a Hurricane pilot. After he died, she found his flight log, one entry just said "in the drink" with no more detail, and no way now to clarify what happened.
So anyone who has a collection like this, please make sure all pictures are properly and fully anotated.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

I love snapshots like these taken by service personnel. The Centaurus test rig would make an interesting scratch build for anyone up to the challenge - I'm not sure I'd like to be standing as close to a running engine with whirling prop as that chap in the photo though! Many thanks for letting us see them, Jim.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
