The worlds only airworthy Sea vixen had a wheels up landing today at Yeovilton. From the brief report I have read the pilot is safe. A text book wheels up. Lets hope Foxy Lady as the Sea Vixen is named can and will be made airworthy again.

All the best.

Glad to hear the pilot is safe and no one else is involved. I hope that the aircraft can be repaired economically and soon will be back in the air where she belongs

Dam. I never seen this aircraft in the air and it's one of favourites. Glad it was a safe landing.

I saw a video clip of the landing last night whilst I was browsing, of all things, a cycling forum (I'm mulling over buying a cycle of the pedal variety, but that's another story). The aircraft comes over the fence pretty quickly, gear and flaps up (major hydraulics failure?) with engines running and gently belly lands with something, possibly the canopy, flying off before the aircraft disappears out of sight of the person taking the clip. As far as I am aware, the pilot is OK but I'm not sure how bent the poor SV is.

Deffo the canopy was jettisoned right at touchdown. From the front quarter pics I have seen there was a brief fireball behind the aircraft probably from the drop tanks that quickly died down. A pic of the aircraft at rest showed no fire damage.

All the best.

Thank goodness the pilot lives to fly another day.
Hopefully the same for the rare and beautiful twin-boomer!

Not good. I heard there was some considerable damage mainly to the structure, including the tail booms which IIRC are now ever so slightly twisted. Could be two years before she's back apparently.
