Photo's of Sunderland Airshow 2017

Post by Sunray »

I went to this years airshow at sunny Sunderland. It was last Friday, Saturday and Sunday but I only went on the Friday night and Sunday due to the weather. I didn't miss out on the Saturday though as the Red Arrows were circling my house before they started their display and flew over it again on their way back to over night at Newcastle Airport when they finished. Anyway here are a flew photo's that I have done so far.

Brilliant shots Ian, absolutely superb!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

It's interesting and very cool that they do demonstrations in the dark of night. Something I've never seen at our shows, which are generally closed at 5pm.

Those are really nice photographs. We'll done!

Thanks guys. The photo's as I say were shot on the Friday night with fading light but because Sunderland is on the east coast the remaining sunlight is behind you which makes life a lot easier.

The Sunderland Friday night flying display starts about 5pm and finishes at 10pm with a firework display. The "Fireflies" are I think the only guys in Europe that do a dusk display (but I might be wrong) and the photo's don't do them justice as the display is amazing to watch and the kids absolutely love it. Thanks.

Great stuff Ian; lovely to see the Pembroke, and the red tail Mustang. The Red Devils look like they put a great show on; you would worry about them getting their lines tangled the way they overlap from the audience's perspective

The Gull looks to have been a tad close to the crowd line; will the CAA be having a word? :-D
Best wishes

Thanks Iggie, it wasn't the Red Devils Display Team but The Tigers of the The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment. I thought it was the Parachute Regt until someone put me right. The Tigers were very impressive and held the three chute formation until just before they landed, they were very good. The RAF Falcons did a drop to but I haven't got around to their photo's yet and as for the Seagull Mk.1 display team well they were just amazing until they started dropping "seagull paint" on everyone when a jet went pass.

Spectacular! Love the Blenheim ones in particular as I stupidly formatted one of my memory cards before downloading the shots recorded on it....... guess what had been flying?
Best wishes

Looks like I might have missed a good show - Even though I'm in the area :-(

Love the shots of the Blenheim - I didn't know that got that flying again.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...
