RAF Scampton Air Show 2017

Post by Sunray »

I went to the Scampton Air Show on Saturday and loved the show. Had a spot or two of rain but that didn't spoil the show and I will be there next year. I am working through my photo's at the minute but here are a few you might like.

Lovely shots Ian, especially like the Vampire pair and the Pitts. what was the car parking like, especially getting out? I may consider going next year!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Nice set of photos mate!
I only didn't go this yeah as I couldn't justify the £39 price tag for a 5 hour display!
I will be there next year though.

Thanks Iggie mate. The organisation wasn't that bad for their first airshow. The car parking was included in the £39 admission & kids under 16 were free. We arrived about 7:30am from Sunderland using my sat nav and following the signs. We were directed to park in the Lincoln Showground and there were shuttle buses to take you to RAF Scampton which were also free, this took about 30 minutes. The flying display finished about 4:15pm but there was loads to see such as static displays, military displays & stalls. We came across one of the shuttle bus queues which was quite long so we decided to get something to eat and have a walk around. On the other side one of the hangers we came across another bus queue of about thirty people if that and walked straight on a bus. So we got on the bus about 5:10pm and I was sitting in my car waiting in the queue to leave the car park about 5:30pm. It took about 15 minutes and we were on our way. The traffic out wasn't that bad and I was back home about 8:30pm. So I will be going again next year (8th-9th Sept 2018 & Under 18's are free). Also the show programme was £7 on the day and its one of the best programmes I have seen and worth the money.

I hope this helps mate.
Cheers
Ian

Cheers mate. I know what you mean about the £39 but that included parking and shuttle bus so I think it wasn't that bad. I enjoyed myself but since I went to the Sunderland Airshow, as well as a camera; a Barbour jacket is a must to stay dry and the poachers inside pocket is ideal to hold my DLSR with 300mm lens! My jacket is about 25 years old and still keeps me dry, which is handy for a British summer

As I have said earlier next years show is on the 8th & 9th Sept 2018 & unders 18's go free according to this years programme so I will see you there.
Cheers
