This might not apply but I'm going for it anyway. I was at a baseball tournament with my son this weekend (Like every weekend these days) when a car from the local highway ran off the road through a fence and almost crashed onto the field next to us.

The passenger was wearing a seat belt but the driver wasn't. She had to be evacuated to the nearest trauma hospital via this which landed in the football field in the same complex we were in.

Unfortunately we found out the next day that the driver did not survive her injuries.

Just glimpsed a noisy Osprey scudding through the low cloud towards Mildenhall from Farnborough ?

On Saturday enjoying a family BBQ at Clumber park I heard a familiar sounding engine. On looking up sure enough it was a de Havilland Gipsy engine pulling along a Tiger Moth. much better than looking at trees, trees and errr more trees.

All the best.

Being down in Cornwall last week it turned out we were only 10mins from Culdrose. Plenty of SeaKings ASR/AEWs and Merlins. From St Michaels mount you could see the S-61 flying out from Penzance to the Scilly Isles. Then yesterday, back home, an Alouette II which was nice as general we have naff all of interest over Hudds.

forgot that the camera was set on 'wide angle'. This thing was a lot closer and lower than it looks like here. And, it really was 'over my house'.... I was standing in my back yard when I took the shot.

Didn't get a pic but I thought I recognised the sound so I looked up and a P-51 flew right over my house heading south. Great to hear that Packard Merlin!

I can't see because the cloud is low and it's snowing sideways, but *someone* has been having fun with afterburners over our office for the last 10 minutes or so...

Funnily enough, ISS flew over our house last Friday about 8:15PM - but we forgot to run outside and look....

Anyways, this MAY have flown over our house on Friday, though I was at work when it arrived:

Image

The Vice-President flew in to visit with our senior Senator. The aircraf tis a C-32, designation Air Force Two when carrying the VP. I am told that one of the engines sucked in some substantial debris on landing, necessitating an engine change. That would explain why the USAF C-17 flew over our house on Saturday at about 500 feet with everything dropped - it was bringing in a spare engine.

I'd assumed that the C-32 was long gone, but one of my colleagues mentioned this mornig that she stopped by the airport early today to see it. Naturally, I had to run out there at lunch to take a gander. I'm assuming the VP has long since left, but the CPU was running on the C-32 when I was there, and the a/c might well be leaving this arvo. Here's a close up of the cockpit section:

Image

Unfortunately, the C-17 has already left, so no pics of that.

Nice pics (well easy when you have sunshine  ) BTW. this aircraft was on last week's episode of Veep (comedy based around the VP and her staff) and was the first time I was aware there was an Airforce 2.

CHeers, James.

AF2 is the aircraft that is carrying the VP. The President has used these a/c on occasion - then they aredesignated Air Force One.
