As you are probably aware, Photobucket (PB) has blocked their members from linking to their own photos from forums and the like, which they call 3rd party linking. Images so blocked appear as a "pay up" notice, not just a red X. This does not appear to be universal -- perhaps based on account type, image sizes, and/or frequency of access -- as not all users here have been blocked - yet.

They are allowing you to pay $399/year to liberate your own images for linking; that is more than the going rate for ransomware.

This is not a good situation for UAMF members who hosted on Photobucket and certainly not good for all the other users who come here to see our members excellent work. A lot of information is no longer available and many threads will look like ghost towns, however we would like those threads to remain for the record, for the text comments, and for the non-PB images which may still be there.

We suggest UAMF members switch from Photobucket to some other service as soon as possible to limit any further damage. One should, however, be wary of "free" hosts as they may also follow suit.

There is not much we can do about this, either to contest the Photobucket decision or to convert user photo links. We encourage users who move to a new service then edit their posts to re-display the image(s). We realize this is a lot of work and we have no expectations. Time to repair whatever damages we can and move on.

We would ask that all Photobucket discussions, complaints, questions, or solutions take place in the sticky thread just below.

And please remember our Forum Rules -- keep it civil and family friendly, or as the Field Artillery slogan goes "Add a bit of dignity to what is otherwise a vulgar affair."

Thank you,
The admin team
