User ranks

Post by JamesPerrin »

The little title under your avatar is your rank. Below are the default ranks and the number of posts to attain them

starter kit 1
adding photo etch 10
doing conversions 50
kitbashing 100
scratch building 200
pattern maker 500
modelling diva 1000

Other ranks are at the discretion of the Admin team.

Hi James.

Could you please tell me the need to have the user rank title over the avater when you already have the number of posts you have made noted in the detail.

There is no 'need' its just a little bit of fun that pretty much all forums have in some way; on others you get stars or badges, here droll witticisms ;-) . I'd guess the idea is too encourage posting to achieve the next rank.

It also helps to create a feeling of shared camaraderie, especially when someone states, for example, that they've been 'whacking away at foam padding'. As a consequence, their 'rank' became 'Whacking away at foam padding'.
Once we've settled down a bit, we might even take on requests, although these are always at the Teams discretion and we don't need to supplement avatars and signatures.

Bruce

I just think that it is a bit of 'clutter' that detracts from the neatness of the Author area. However, I should not rock the boat, as I learned long ago that it is not wise to upset the moderators. I will now go and have my cup of Horlicks.

Heck I just want to know who branded me Sprue Teaser at the old board. Made me laugh so hard. I owe them a beer.

im not bothered one way or the other...........its just one of those things that come with forums.....be nice to be able to have what you want tho, instead of the default ones............maybe once you hit a certain post count, maybe?...pretty please :-D ................at least there isnt those stupid 'reputation' points or what ever you want to call them...totally pointless!

Once you hit 1000 posts and become a "modelling diva" you can request one, that's what I did ;-)

I was wondering if anyone would notice and forgot to inform the Team...very soz!

I thought the automatic, post-related ranks might better reflect a persons contribution to the Forum and The Hobby.

Don't worry I don't mind at all. Change is good, as long as it's for the better.
