Getting a SQL error

I was in the 3 word story thread and clicked to go back to the off-topic section and got the error

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Table 'phpbb_topics' is marked as crashed and should be repaired [1194]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.

and Maketci has reported a SQL error too:

Bound to happen during a Bank Holiday weekend of course!

It's probably confined to one SQL table, so hopefully it's not going to compromise operations on the rest of the site. No worries, these things happen.

Got the same when I tried to click on "view new topics"

Wasn't aware of this until around 3.30 on saturday morning; fixed at 3.40am. Apparently we were getting a 1203 MySQL error before this one, which almost always indicates that a database table is having permissions issues.

If you see errors like this at any time, PM or email; the sooner somebody is aware of it, the sooner it can be fixed up. Usually I would have seen John's email much sooner but we were out and I didn't pick any mail up on my phone, in accordance with Murphy's Law.
