New avatar.

Post by Taurusboy »

Hi Lads
I want to replace my (personal photo) with
an avatar of my old squadron badge and my
forum name (Taurusboy) plus my post details
etc underneath. I am not sure about what
colour the background should be and can it be
a normal 6"x4" pic resized down? Advice please!
Pete.

Hi Pete,
The avatar is simply the picture - your forum name & the post details are something else.
Max size for an avatar is 120x120 pixels and 24kb file size. Frankly I think 120x120 is huge - mine is 96x96.

Color of background really doesn't matter - what you see is what you get.
Just resize the picture accordingly and upload it through the User Control Panel.

IIRC, I did this for you a couple years ago, if you want to email me the picture, I'll take care of it - or go to PM and I'll talk you through it.

Paul - 148 (click on it & you'll get larger size). I'll let Pete do the history.

Pete, I have the image - let me play with it for a bit; I'll make white background, get rid of shadow, and straighten it up slightly.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Hi Paul
148sqdn was a "heavy bomber" unit which
was known as a "special duties" squadron
and operated a lot in the Italian and Balkan
areas in WW2. I was with the squadron at
RAF Upwood from Feb 1952 until July 1954.
We were operating Avro "Lincoln" B2s.
