Could anyone tell me approximately what one of these goes for these days? Has anyone got one to sell? Market price met.

If you have any questions on O-2A's, feel free to ask. I led a restoration on an O-2A that served in Vietnam.

Thanks very much - I have one to start with; what colour were the belts in the O-2, and were they full harness or just lap belts like the Skymaster?

The belts are a full harness type and more of a beige/tan color. They run from a single point above the seats, down over the shoulders to a lap belt which is tied at each side of the seat on the floor.

Hope the info helps.

On another note, if you've ever seen the Testors 1/48 O-2A kit, the blue navy paint option is actually taken from our aircraft. It was only one of six the Navy flew in the 80's, and the only one still in navy colors.

That sounds like an interesting scheme! Unfortunately, I want this one to be VNAF and at current prices I would officially have more money than sense if I got another one. :)

What did the USN use the O-2 for, btw?

They were assigned to VFA-125 out of NAS Lemoore in California, which is a training group for F/A-18 and now the F-35. They used them for range control, calling in targets, etc.. They also used them just to get from Lemoore out to NAS Fallon in Nevada

Thanks CM. I found some pictures of them and they're striking looking birds. If ever a Skymaster kit comes in at a reasonable price I could well be tempted.

Here's a couple of photos, circa 1985-86. These were taken by a now retired Captain who now is a pilot with Alaska airlines. These are over Nevada somewhere.

Cheers PM. I've also seen them in a white and red scheme, but that one is much better.
