Hi Everybody

I'm working on a little personal project building 1/72nd models of aircraft that served aboard the USS Forrestal during her long career. Ideally I'd like an example of every type. I have quite a few models to be getting on with but would appreciate it if anybody has relevant kits or decals that they'd be prepared to sell or trade that I don't already have.

Already in stock and ready to go (or in progress) I have:

A-4B Skyhawk
A-4C Skyhawk
A-4E Intruder
A-7E Corsair II
EA-6A Intruder
EA-6B Prowler
F-4J Phantom
F-8E Crusader
F7U-3 Cutlass
F9F-8 Cougar
F-14A Tomcat
S-3A Viking
SH-3 Sea King

Kits I already have but with no suitable decals:

A-3B Skywarrior
f/A-18A Hornet
FJ-4B Fury
F3H Demon
RA-5C Vigilante

I'd really like a decent 1/72nd Skyraider too so if anybody can help in any way, even simply by pointing me in the direction of suppliers or manufacturers I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks

Darryl

I've got decals for the A-4B and C, but my Corsair decals are for the A, not the E.
PM sent

Easily the best 1/72 Skyraider is the Hasegawa kit, but its appearance is sporadic, and I don't think it's currently available. They did release at least one boxing with USS Forrestal markings: VA-85 Hasegawa 1/72 Skyraider

The old Airfix A-1 is much easier to find, but I'm not aware of any suitable a/m decals (though that's not to say they don't exist). A nice kit for its age though.

HLJ have one on pre-order for December release. https://hlj.com/product/HSG02262 The price hurts though..

Thanks Mike. I'll have to keep a look out for one.

Cheers Adam. I used to own the Airfix Vigilante but sold it a year or so back when I acquired the Trumpeter version. Neither have Forrestal markings though. If it comes to it I might have to explore printing some of my own.

Nobody's phone likes them typing. I'm convinced they're deliberately designed like that.

I think I've got an Airfix Vigilante, I'll see what the decals are asap. I'll also look in the decal box if you like.

Yes they're awful and mine just doesn't like working full stop!

That's a point Il have a look through my spares see if there's anything as well when I get home.

Also has this Airfix A-4D-1 got Forrestal decals you could maybe use some of for your F-8?

If so mate let me know and you can have them as I got a new set from Telford for this bird.

Hi, the Vigilante decals are annoyingly for other Carriers JFK and Enterprise. I only have Forrestal decals from the old Airfix Phantom, not sure if they are of help. Will try and see if the stash can produce anything but can't promise.
