I found this 90's Airfix Chieftain tank model I stowed away that I am going to have a go at. The tracks are very messy though, with flash and excess plastic between parts where there should be holes etc and also some broken edge bits (as I recall, it was like this out of the box!)

I do intend to try my hand at some weathering so the tracks may end up being covered in mud etc anyway.

What do you guys think? Would try to clean it up, if so how would you remove the excess plastic from the small holes?

Thanks

I'd remove the excess along the edges and then build it plowing through a muddy west Germany and not worry about the tiny perforations

Better to fettle than to fill

I wonder if it would be feasible to make up a small punch from folded, pre-sharpened PE scrap to cut out the squares? The vinyl won't be very thick and should cut easily enough

I'm with James, put it in a muddy field -- one of the bennies of armored stuff.
But if you must, then a (few) new #11 blades will be sharp & pointed enough to take the filling out.
