Jet Eflux

Post by DH-Drover »

Not being a jet aircraft modeler I am now building 1/144 jet airliners.
What colours do I need to mix for the jet exhausts?

Jet pipes are normally made from Titanium and from the outside take on various colours from silver to light gold with tints of purple/blue on the inside the jet pipes they tend to be between a light or dark grey depending on if they are just been started or have shut down after a flight. If you go for a dark grey for the jet pipe you wont go far wrong as very little light will get in there.

Try looking at your cars exhaust, if its been on a good run it tends to be light grey but on short runs will be almost black (if its white you have a problem as it indicates the fuel mixture is too weak or after a long run its still black it running too rich) Jets are the same just on a bigger scale
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
