I found this 90's Airfix Chieftain tank model I stowed away that I am going to have a go at. The tracks are very messy though, with flash and excess plastic between parts where there should be holes etc and also some broken edge bits (as I recall, it was like this out of the box!)
I do intend to try my hand at some weathering so the tracks may end up being covered in mud etc anyway.
What do you guys think? Would try to clean it up, if so how would you remove the excess plastic from the small holes?
Thanks

I'd remove the excess along the edges and then build it plowing through a muddy west Germany and not worry about the tiny perforations

I wonder if it would be feasible to make up a small punch from folded, pre-sharpened PE scrap to cut out the squares? The vinyl won't be very thick and should cut easily enough
Best wishes

I'm with James, put it in a muddy field -- one of the bennies of armored stuff.
But if you must, then a (few) new #11 blades will be sharp & pointed enough to take the filling out.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Cheers for the tips guys, I think mud will be the solution! :D
I had another question about the paints for this build. The kit (from the '90s) list the primary model colour as "Humbrol 75 - Olive Green". However, Humbrol 75 these days appears to be "Matt Bronze Green". Is this the same color with a new name or is it a totally different colour these days? To be honest, Humbrol 155 (Olive Drab Matt), seem more like what the box art/real world photos are is suggesting (75 Bronze Green seems very dark).
Odd that Humbrol swapped the names/colors like that.
Anyone any ideas?
