Small scale ships chains

Post by splash »

I have been reading David Griffith's excellent book "Ship Models from Kits" and have found an excellent tip for producing small scale anchor chains for 1:600 -1:700 scale.

You simply use three strands of wire stripped out of thin electrical wire and simply plat the wires together left over centre, right over centre, left over centre and so forth.

The book says for the larger 1:350 scale a more complex four wire plat gives the chain more depth.

Here is my first try set against the old Airfix 1:600 HMS Daring.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
