Micro Mesh

Post by MerlinJones »

For those of you who may not know, Micro Mesh comes as a packet of differently graded cloths, intended for finely polishing stuff. The coarsest is finer than, say, P1000 sandpaper and you can easily polish out scratches from transparencies and bring them up to a high shine.

I believe Titan used these to polish the surface of his Angel Interceptor.

One question I have is can you wash the cloths effectively and how? I ask because I had a go on polishing my white Angel and ended up adding grey 'weathering'. I now need to re-paint.

Were you using them wet? I've not had a problem smoothing out my white primer with 4000grit.

BTW you can get sheets off ebay for *far* less than that sold by model suppliers who charge a fortune for tiny strips.

I did indeed use micromesh for the Angel Interceptor but as James said it must be wet if you want to smooth down your primed surfaces or canopies.
I tend to use the 3600 size for smoothing paint work down.
